About NoiseFace
NoiseFace is a cute noise generator that visualizes sound through an adorable animated character. Mix up to 12 different noise colors, save your favorite combinations as presets, and watch the waveforms dance in the character's mouth!
Getting Started
When you first launch NoiseFace, you'll see:
- 12 colored buttons (one for each noise type)
- An animated character at the top
- A brightness slider at the bottom
- A white circular button above the slider
Basic Controls
- TAP a button - Start/stop that noise
- HOLD a button (0.5s) - Select it for brightness control
- USE SLIDER - Adjust filter brightness (0-100%)
- TAP CHARACTER FACE - Clear all sounds
- THREE-FINGER TAP - Quick clear anywhere
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I mix multiple noises?
Simply tap multiple colored buttons! You can have up to 12 noises playing simultaneously. The character's mouth will show a blended waveform of all active sounds.
How do I save my favorite mix?
Follow these steps:
- Create your perfect mix by tapping buttons
- Tap the white circle button at the bottom to enter preset mode
- Tap any empty (blue) slot to save your current mix
- Your preset is automatically saved!
How do I load a saved preset?
In preset mode (tap the white circle button), tap any filled (colored) slot to instantly load that preset. The character's face will change color to match your preset!
How do I delete a preset?
In preset mode, long-press any filled preset slot and drag it down to the trash can icon. The button will turn red when you're over the trash. Release to delete!
What do the different noise colors mean?
- White Noise - Equal intensity across all frequencies
- Pink Noise - Balanced, natural sound (rain-like)
- Brown Noise - Deep, rumbling bass tones
- Blue Noise - Higher frequencies, crisp and bright
- Violet Noise - Even higher frequencies
- Gray Noise - Psychoacoustically flat
- Black Noise - Silence/very low frequencies
- Green Noise - Nature sounds frequency range
- Orange, Yellow, Turquoise - Specialty frequency blends
Why does the character blink and sleep?
The character blinks randomly to add personality! After playing for 2 minutes continuously, it will fall asleep with closed eyes. Any interaction will wake it back up.
How do I control individual noise brightness?
Hold any active (colored) button for 0.5 seconds. You'll see a quick black flash on the rim. Now the slider controls only that specific noise!
The app isn't making any sound. What should I do?
Try these troubleshooting steps:
- Check that your device volume is turned up
- Make sure your device isn't in silent mode (check the side switch)
- Tap a colored button to ensure a noise is active
- Move the brightness slider to at least 50%
- Try closing and reopening the app
- Restart your device if the issue persists
Do my presets save between app launches?
Yes! All your presets are automatically saved and will be there when you reopen the app.
